How Agents and Realtors Can Improve Search Engine Rankings for ...

By? John Highman

As we all know the internet is fast becoming the main and best way to advertise commercial and residential property for sale or lease. Given that all real estate agents are using the same promotional method on the internet, we now need to give solid attention to search engine rankings if we want to be seen as a credible and relevant real estate specialist in the local area.

Why Do It?

In most cases, real estate is searched and sold on a location basis. The buyer will look for property based on location first and type of property second. The same applies to tenants. Your primary goal should therefore be to rank on the first page of Google when someone puts your city and suburb plus ?real estate? into the search engine. Try it yourself now and see what happens.

Almost all agents have a website and are likely to be happy with the way it looks and works. There are a couple of other steps that can be taken in addition to your website, that are free and very effective. So let?s look at them.

The Choice

First and foremost you must decide whether you want to improve your office name or your personal name on the internet. It really just depends on if you run your own business or work for another person. Make the choice and then go to the next step.

The Next Step

The most effective ways to add to your selected image (office or personal) on the internet is through:

1. Article Marketing, and
2. Writing Blogs

Like it or not, these tools really do work very well to improve your ranking on the search engines when used in conjunction to the other standard website and internet marketing methods. They should both be done together, and they are both free.

When you use these together with the other things you already do, the internet will see you more and rank you higher. Search engines love article marketing and blogs, it?s that simple.

Now something needs to be said here that will stop some of you immediately, and if that is the case then that is fine (it narrows the field for those that choose to continue). The process I am talking about here requires daily focus on writing and posting a few things. It will take you up to a couple of hours per day (or at least one hour). The best time to do this is in the morning before you leave to go to the office. You will need to use a computer and be somewhat proficient at putting words together on local relevant real estate subjects; you have to be creative.

If those factors are something you cannot handle and find in your day then do not proceed down this path. For those that want to continue with this strategy, simply seek out one or more high ranking article marketing sites and blog sites, become a member of both, read their rules and start writing about real estate in your area.

There are more strategies that can be implemented in each of these processes mentioned and that knowledge will come to you when you get used to taking consistent action in writing and posting to the web. Over time these tools will make a major difference in search engine visibility for you or your real estate business.
